Quadricuspid Aortic Valve: A Rare Congenital Anomaly Presenting in Adulthood with Severe Aortic Regurgitation

Announcing a new article publication for Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications journal. This article discusses the diagnosis of quadricuspid aortic valve (QAV), highlighting a common presentation – detection in midlife following symptoms of severe regurgitation confirmed by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). The delayed diagnosis underscores how valve dysfunction often emerges later in life.

The patient lacked additional malformations, emphasizing the variability in presentation. Advanced imaging techniques like transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and CT, along with routine monitoring, are recommended for at-risk individuals. Targeted screenings for those with familial heart defects and global data collection could improve early detection, treatment, and understanding of genetic underpinnings of QAV.
