We read with great interest the recent article entitled “ Effect of metformin on incidence, recurrence, and mortality in prostate cancer patients: integrating evidence from real-world studies,” which provides a comprehensive and timely synthesis of the potential benefits of metformin in prostate cancer (PCa) management [1]. The authors’ effort in integrating real-world evidence to assess incidence, recurrence, and cancer-specific mortality offers valuable insights into repurposing a widely used antidiabetic drug for oncologic outcomes. Particularly commendable is the study’s focus on outcomes across various PCa stages and endpoints, adding depth to its clinical relevance.
