Wenxue Ma, MD, PhD, is a specialist in Immuno-Oncology, physician scientist, and director of drug discovery at Sanford Stem Cell Institute, University of California San Diego. He received both his MD and PhD from Zhejiang University in China. His research focuses on immuno-oncology, cancer stem cells, and cancer immunotherapy. Dr. Ma is a member of several professional societies (ASCO, AACR, ISSCR, JCA, RSM, and SITC). He has authored or co-authored multiple publications in leading journals, such as Cancer Cell, Cancer Discovery, Cell Stem Cell, etc. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Immunology, the Executive Guest Editor for Cytokine & Growth Factor Reviews (CGFR), and a member of the CGFR Editorial Board. Since 2006, he has reviewed manuscripts for 101 scientific journals and, and since early 2023 he has served as a Grant Evaluation Expert for the European Science Foundation (ESF), Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), and the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM). In 2025, he was invited to serve as an abstract reviewer for the Annual Meeting of the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC).
