Data published in the British Journal of Cancer describe the identification and analysis of four biomarkers that could be used as a real-time prognostic tool for development of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC).

No biomarkers are currently available to predict the onset of castration resistance. Identification of patients who are likely to stop responding to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) would enable prompt cessation of this treatment and progression to other modalities.
